Illegally Parked 18 Wheeler Causes Elderly Man Death - Arlington, TX
On the evening of Wednesday, November 17, 2021, at approximately 7:25PM, an elderly 80-year-old man, Robert Norcross, was traveling westbound in the 5300 block of Woodland Park Boulevard, headed toward Lake Arlington. Woodland Park Boulevard is a two-lane road with one lane in each direction. It was dark outside and the roadway was not well-lit.
The Star Telegram reported that Mr. Norcross unexpectedly came upon an illegally parked 18-Wheeler blocking Mr. Norcross’s lane of traffic. Unfortunately, Mr. Norcross violently collided into the back corner of the unoccupied 18-Wheeler.
Mr. Norcross was immediately transported by American Medical Response ambulance to a local trauma hospital. Unfortunately, Mr. Norcross succumbed to his serious injuries and passed away shortly after his hospital admission. Arlington police department continues to investigate this horrible crash.
God of love and mercy, embrace all of those whose hearts today are overflowed with grief, unanswered questions, and such a sense of loss. Grant them space to express their tears. Hold them close through the coming days especially during this trying time and holiday season.
A Note From Rocky
Mr. Norcross’s death was completely avoidable and was directly caused by the irresponsibleness of the 18-Wheeler driver.
Irresponsible truck drivers park their rigs in places that pose a danger to the public. Some drivers even park on a highway shoulder and sleep in their sleeper. That is illegal and highly dangerous to the public. Some drivers park on city streets near their homes and block part of the traffic lane. All of this is negligence on the part of the truck driver.
