Street Racing Results in Death of Pedestrian - Dallas, TX By Rocky Walton on December 04, 2021

On Friday, November 26, 2021, a deadly crash occurred in the 10100 block of Ferguson Road, just south of Gus Thomasson Road in Dallas, Texas. At approximately 2:15 p.m. a pedestrian was struck and killed by a vehicle that is believed to have been involved with a street race at the time. The identity of the victim has not been released, but he or she is believed to be elderly. The cars involved in the incident are believed to be a Chevrolet Impala and a Chevrolet Camaro. According to WFAA ABC News, Police say that “the Impala was a 2014-2020 LTX/Premier model, with chrome side mirror caps and a chrome body side molding. The Impala might have a damaged front passenger headlight and fog light”. The Camaro was yellow with a black racing stripe on the hood.

Both drivers fled the scene, and Dallas Police are still searching to find those responsible. Crime watchers have offered to pay up to $5,000 for any information that leads to an arrest or indictment of the drivers.

Accidents Resulting in Fatality of Pedestrians

In the United States, according to the CDC, there is approximately one death every 88 minutes from an accident involving a pedestrian. Not only that, but the CDC claims that “per trip, pedestrians are 1.5 times more likely than passenger vehicle occupants to be killed in a car crash”. People should not have to be worried about being struck and killed by a vehicle when they want to walk their dog or grab the mail. It is the responsibility of the vehicle operator to prioritize the safety of those who are more vulnerable, and without the protection of a car and a seatbelt. Serious injuries to pedestrians can result from such accidents, and can leave them severely injured and traumatized. If the driver of a vehicle is responsible for the injury of a pedestrian, Roger “Rocky” Walton can help to receive compensation for the losses of the victim.

Ways to Avoid Accidents as a Pedestrian

  • Walk in well lit areas

  • Try to avoid walking at night, if you do, use a flashlight or wear reflective clothing

  • Walk on a sidewalk or path

  • Walk towards oncoming traffic, so you can see what is coming towards you

  • Use crosswalks

  • “Look both ways”!

Our Prayer

Dear Lord, we pray for the victim and their family and loved ones. We trust that you do not leave their side and we are blessed by your guidance and protection. Amen.

The majority of these accidents are the fault of the motor vehicle operator, who often get to walk away with little to no injuries, while the victims either lose their lives or become seriously injured. All of these accidents and deaths could be avoided, and the person or parties responsible for this crash should be held accountable for all damages.
