Tragic Fatality in Ft Worth near Chisholm Trail Pkwy & Overton Ridge
At approximately 10:00 AM on Friday, March 11, 2022, a major motor vehicle crash occurred in Fort Worth near the Chisholm Trail Pkwy and Overton Ridge Boulevard reported WFAA. According to a Medstar ambulance service representative, the crash involved four victims. One of the victims was fatally injured during the crash and died upon impact. Two of the other victims were critically injured and transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. According to Medstar, one of the victims was ejected from the vehicle during impact. It is unclear at this time whether the ejected victim was the fatality or one of the critically injured patients. As several emergency response vehicles responded to the crash, first responders saw that four vehicles had been involved in the crash. The three victims that remained in their vehicles had to be extracted by first responders. Several lanes of traffic were shut down for several hours as first responders provided aid to the crash victims and helped clear the crash wreckage. Crash scene detectives arrived on the scene, and the investigation is still underway at this time. The names of the victims have not been released at this time.

Continuing Investigation
At this time the investigation on what caused the crash is still underway. Crash detectives did say that despite the winter weather advisory in effect that Friday, they were unsure if the conditions of the roads at that time were a contributing factor. According to TxDOT, some of the most common causes of car crashes are distracted driving, weather, vehicle malfunction, and intoxicated driving. With the winter advisory in effect weather and distracted driving are two likely candidates for the cause of this crash.
