Meet Roger "Rocky" Walton

Attorney Rocky Walton is a born-and-raised Texan who has served on the board of the Arlington Bar Association since 2012.

He began practicing law in 1987, and has collected millions on behalf of clients throughout the Arlington, TX, area.

Not bad for a country boy who was told he had no shot of achieving his dream of becoming a lawyer.

Rocky Walton's Incredible Journey to Becoming a Top-Rated Attorney

Humble Roots

Rocky was born in a one-bedroom farmhouse in Brazos Point to teenage parents who dropped out of high school to help out on the family farm. At age two, Rocky and his parents moved to Cleburne, where they lived together in a house with an indoor restroom for the first time. For work, his father made the daily commute to Fort Worth where he operated heavy equipment for an excavation company. The work ethic Rocky’s parents displayed every single day continues to inspire his own to this day.

Personal Inspiration

When he was 12, Rocky’s family moved again. This time the Waltons went to Fort Worth so Rocky’s father could attend business college. Always curious, Rocky picked up and read his dad’s Business Law book. The immediate spark he felt ignited his desire to become a lawyer himself. He delivered a 10th-grade speech class presentation telling his teacher and fellow students that he would one day be a politician and attorney. He went home and told his family the same. His grandfather’s response was typical: “Rocky, you will never make a lawyer.” It was common in those days for country folk to forgo school to work on family farms, just like Rocky’s parents did. Plus, no one in his family had ever even graduated high school.

Educational Achievement

All things considered, his grandfather’s comment did not surprise him. What it did do was give him newfound determination to achieve his dream. Rocky went off to college without ever asking for a cent from his relatives. He would soon fall for his college sweetheart Sharon and married her when he was only 19. He paid for school by working throughout college, taking out student loans, and receiving help from Sharon who dropped out to start working. Rocky’s determination paid off. After finishing law school with a J.D. from St. Mary's, he decided to get an advanced law degree from SMU Law School in taxation and securities. Only approximately 2% of Texas lawyers have advanced law degrees (LL.M.) in any area of law.

An Award-Winning Lawyer

Rocky was not satisfied with simply becoming a lawyer. He wanted to be the best attorney possible. He went on to become a board-certified specialist in Personal Injury Trial Law, which is a distinction only 2.2% of Texan lawyers can claim. Rocky’s consistent success earned him the highest possible rating of AV from the renowned attorney evaluator Martindale-Hubbell, and recognition as a "Top Attorney in Tarrant County" in a survey conducted by Fort Worth Magazine. He also achieved his goal of becoming a politician by serving two terms on the Arlington City Council from 1990-1994.

His commitment to his community extends to each of his Texas clients. Rocky works on a contingency basis, which means you do not have to pay him a dime unless he wins your case. He also writes letters of protection for his clients, which give them the ability to receive medical care now and not have to pay until they receive their verdict or settlement money

Looking Back

/

Rocky and Sharon are still happily married. After a long day of serving clients, he loves coming home to her and playing the guitar, which has been a lifelong passion of his. When he does take a moment to reflect on his life, what makes Rocky most proud is not his many personal achievements, but the joy and financial justice he has been able to bring to so many of his clients.

The Rocky Walton team is so caring. They had sent a bouquet of flowers that were waiting for me after my surgery, & I received cards throughout the years this process has taken. They were able to answer any & all questions, they kept me up to date on every single thing that was being done, and I am so grateful to have this team represent me during this emotional process. I went to Rocky Walton almost immediately after my wreck/injuries & that was the best decision I made. They are very upfront with their professional judgement of the trajectory of your case. They also allow you the time you need to recover & put your medical needs first.
